In a statement issued by the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, it was noted that the restoration work that began in the museum's north wing in 2012 will now commence in the south wing, and that the south wing will remain closed for 14 years.

The statement noted that this step is necessary for the continuation of essential repairs at the museum as planned, and that the work previously started in the north wing is scheduled to be completed and reopened in 2027.
