Poet Haydar Ergülen denied visa by Italy
Renowned poet Haydar Ergülen was unable to attend an event he was invited to in Italy because he could not obtain a visa. Ergülen wrote, "Even though my plane ticket was purchased, I cannot go because visa appointments are closed."
Poet Haydar Ergülen announced that he will not be able to attend a poetry festival he was invited to in the Italian city of Bologna because visa appointments are closed.
Ergülen stated, "My poetry books have been published in 7 languages. I cannot go to the poetry festival in Bologna on May 10-12, 2024, to which I was invited and for which my plane ticket was purchased, because visa appointments are closed."
Here is the post shared on X by Ergülen, who said he could not attend the festival because 'visas are closed':
"I do not have a green passport. Like some other poets, I am invited to various poetry festivals abroad. My poetry books have been published in 7 languages. I cannot go to the poetry festival in Bologna on May 10-12, 2024, to which I was invited and for which my plane ticket was purchased, because visa appointments are closed."
