The premiere of the "Romeo and Juliet" ballet will meet the audience on March 15!

The premiere of the "Romeo and Juliet" ballet, staged by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (İDOB), will take place on March 15 at the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) Türk Telekom Opera Hall.

According to the statement made by İDOB, the ballet, which draws its subject from the immortal masterpiece of William Shakespeare—a source of inspiration in every field of art—was composed by Sergei Prokofiev.

ONE OF THE CORNERSTONES OF ART

Having a unique place in the classical ballet repertoire, the work is considered one of the cornerstones of the ballet world with both its choreographic richness and musical depth.

Prokofiev's powerful music and the choreography shaped by elegant steps captivate the audience by bringing the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet to the stage as an unforgettable visual and auditory feast.

WILL BRING THE STORY OF THE GREAT LOVE TO THE STAGE

Its dramatic narrative, combined with the technical subtleties of classical ballet, offers a story experience that impresses the viewers.

The work will be presented to the audience with an original choreography created by the famous choreographer Ricardo Amarante specifically for İDOB dancers.

In the production, where Zdravko Lazarov will conduct the İDOB Orchestra, Romeo will be performed alternately by Batur Büklü, Iskandar Anvarov (guest artist), Matthew Solovieff, and Berkay Günay, while Juliet will be performed alternately by Berfu Elmas, Büşra Ay, Ayça Anıl, Ami Naito, and Elifsu Pamukçu.

In addition, more than thirty ballet artists will be on stage alternately in the production.

The ballet, featuring set design by Ferhat Karakaya, costume design by Serdar Başbuğ, and lighting design by Önder Arık, will meet the audience again on March 19, March 20, March 26, March 27, April 2, April 3, April 16, April 22, and April 29.
