The countdown has begun for the film “Zübeyde, Mothers and Sons,” which will be released on the 100th anniversary of the Republic, proclaimed on October 29, 1923.

The film's producer, Nuri Yıldırım, spoke to 12punto.com.tr about the details surrounding the film “Zübeyde, Mothers and Sons,” which will hit theaters on October 13.

'IT WILL ALSO BE RELEASED IN AUSTRALIA'

Producer Nuri Yıldırım said, "We worked on this film for about 3 years. During this time, we read more than 15 thousand articles with our team. We prepared the script meticulously. We told the story that there is a Zübeyde in every home and that those Zübeydes can give birth to and raise a Mustafa Kemal. The whole world will get to know Atatürk's mother, Zübeyde Hanım, closely and through her true aspects. The film will be released in Europe, the USA, Central Asia, and Middle Eastern countries, as well as in Australia."

"We reflected the process from the birth of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk to October 29, 1923, the date the Republic was proclaimed, on the silver screen," said Nuri Yıldırım, who also revealed unknown facts about Atatürk and his mother, Zübeyde Hanım.

SHE WAS CALLED 'MOLLA ZÜBEYDE'

Producer Nuri Yıldırım explained the details of the film, saying, "Mustafa Kemal actually had 6 siblings. This is something we didn't know about his life. In those years, Zübeyde Hanım was called 'Molla Zübeyde.' In this film, moviegoers will see a Zübeyde Hanım who is devoted to her faith and has strong religious convictions for the first time."

'THE REVENUE FROM THE BOX OFFICE...'

"Our main expectation is to leave a mark on the audience," said Yıldırım, adding, "We did not make this film for economic gain. Even our sponsors are limited. This film cost us a lot. But believe me, it doesn't matter at all. I would like to announce through you that a portion of the revenue from the box office will be donated to Darüşşafaka."

WHAT IS THE SUBJECT OF THE FILM ZÜBEYDE, MOTHERS AND SONS, AND WHO ARE THE ACTORS?

Directed by Cenk Yaz and written by İlber Tekinsoy, Zübeyde, Mothers and Sons covers the struggle of Zübeyde Hanım as she braves various hardships, starting from a chaotic Thessaloniki in the final years of the Ottoman Empire up to the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey.

Aslıhan Güner plays Zübeyde Hanım and Alican Yücesoy plays Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the film, which also features Devrim Nas, Emre Kınay, Sitare Akbaş, Wilma Elles, Enes Demirkapı, Ali Sağ, and Turgay Tanülkü in its cast.
