Qatar's first female artist Dana Al Fardan to perform in Turkey

Dana Al Fardan, the first female Qatari contemporary classical music composer, songwriter, and symphonic artist, will give a concert at the Kuşadası Caravanserai, hosted by the Kuşadası Municipality and the Kuşadası Culture, Art and Promotion Foundation (KUSAV). The concert, which will take place on Sunday, July 7 at 20:30, will feature Dana Al Fardan accompanied by the Cinemoon Ensemble, consisting of soloists from the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Giovanni Passini.

Dana Al Fardan, who performs her songs in English, has 4 albums. In her concert in Kuşadası, Al Fardan will perform hit tracks from her 'Indigo' album in the historic setting of the Caravanserai. 

MEETING TURKISH AUDIENCES FOR THE FIRST TIME

Dana Al Fardan expressed her great happiness at having the opportunity to share her songs with a respected Turkish audience for the first time.

Describing the songs she will perform at the concert, Dana Al Fardan said, “Indigo is the color of the third eye chakra. It represents wisdom and higher understanding. We have observed that all of nature reveals itself to the sense of sight through color. In this concert, where we will perform tracks from my Indigo album, you will experience a journey toward your higher self through a full spectrum of light, color, and sound, performed by a chamber orchestra consisting of piano, strings, and electronics.”

WILL VISIT EPHESUS AND PAMUKKALE

Preparing to give a concert in Turkey for the first time, Al Fardan will visit the Ancient City of Ephesus and Pamukkale, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List, before the concert. She will then meet with classical music lovers at the Kuşadası Caravanserai on July 7. Dana Al Fardan stated that she is very excited to meet Turkish music lovers for the first time. The famous artist, who has performed in iconic venues all over the world, says she would also love to give concerts in world-famous historical sites within Turkey's impressive geography, such as Istanbul, the Ancient City of Ephesus, the Ancient City of Troy, and Cappadocia.

WHO IS DANA AL FARDAN?

Blending the culture of the East with the melodies of the West, Dana Al Fardan is considered Qatar's musical pioneer in the world. The famous artist is known for being the first Qatari woman to sing in English and for being a cultural ambassador for the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra. Dana Al Fardan, who is considered her country's musical pioneer as the first female singer and writer from Qatar, has four albums titled Paint, Layla, Sandstorm, and Indigo. She also collaborated with Nadim Naaman on two musicals titled Broken Wings and Rumi. Al Fardan is currently working on her fifth album, Tempest, which tells the story of pearl-diving sailors.

Tempest is an album orchestrated based on Qatari pearl-diving percussion with a symphonic orchestra that shows the convergence of global maritime cultures. In this research, we discover that all traditional maritime music, including Scandinavian, Celtic, and Baltic, is compatible with the rhythmic structure of Qatari Pearl Diving percussion and shares a remarkable similarity with the tonality of the chants. Al Fardan, who attaches great importance to her country's cultural values, was also commissioned to write an album for Qatar Museums to be released in October 2024 on the occasion of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture.

Dana Al Fardan pioneered musical work in her country by founding DNA Records, Qatar's first record label. She composed the music for the British film The Necromancer and the drama film Orca, which is based on a true story. Dana Al Fardan is also the official composer for the Qatar Airways Group. In 2024, Dana Al Fardan's compositions were featured in the theatrical work “Giocando con Orlando” in Italy. Dana Al Fardan, who attended the 77th Cannes Film Festival, performed her latest masterpiece, Indigo, on stage.
