Rape lawsuit filed against director Roman Polanski
A woman has filed a lawsuit against Polish director Roman Polanski, known for 'The Pianist', 50 years later, alleging that he raped her in 1973.
'The Pianist', 'The Ninth Gate', 'Chinatown' and 'Oliver Twist' director, 90-year-old Roman Polanski, is facing a lawsuit filed 50 years later by a woman who alleges he raped her at his home in 1973 when she was a minor.
The victim announced that she had filed the lawsuit against Roman Polanski during a press conference held with her attorney, Gloria Allred, on March 12, 2024.
Polanski has denied the allegations.
SHE HAD GIVEN HIS INITIALS YEARS AGO
The woman, who was 16 years old in 1973 and whose name has not been disclosed, first raised the rape allegations in 2017, at which time she only provided the initials of the famous director.
Defense attorney Alexander Rufus Isaacs stated that Roman Polanski vehemently denies the allegations against him, while the director said in a statement during the first hearing of the case that he believes he will be cleared at the end of the trial.
At the first hearing of the case, the judge set the trial date for 2025.
Roman Polanski has faced similar accusations in previous years.
