British singer Robbie Williams was scheduled to perform at the Ataköy Marina in Istanbul on October 7. However, it was announced that the concert was cancelled due to the spread of allegations on social media claiming the artist is a "Zionist," which sparked public backlash.
Williams' wife, Ayda Field, comes from a family of Turkish descent. The couple, who married in 2010, has a family background where Ayda Field's father, Haldun Evecan, is Turkish, and her mother, Gwen Field, is of Jewish descent. This family history was brought up in the discussions cited as the reason for the concert's cancellation.
Robbie Williams was born on February 13, 1974, in Stoke-on-Trent, England, and was raised in a Catholic family. His mother, Janet, and father, Peter Williams, are of Catholic descent, and his father is known as an entertainer under the stage name "Pete Conway."
