A Roman-era female statue has been discovered during excavations carried out in the Blaundos Ancient City, located within the borders of the Ulubey district of Uşak. It was stated that the statue, which is missing its head, is an important find reflecting the artistic and cultural richness of the period, discovered during excavations led by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
In a statement made by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, it was reported that the excavation work, which began on July 1, was concentrated in the western part of the Ceres (Demeter) Temple, where a female statue was found. It was noted that the discovered statue offers artistic details and cultural clues belonging to the Roman period.
Following the discovery of the statue, teams from the Uşak Museum Directorate began the restoration process for the statue. The aim is to restore the statue to its former appearance through meticulous work.
This discovery made in the Blaundos Ancient City has once again revealed the historical importance of the region. The excavation team aims to reach more findings in the coming period and to better understand the settlement culture of the region during the Roman period.
