Singer Charlotte Church threatened: 'I must make my voice heard'

Charlotte Church, a singer and songwriter who participated in a pro-Palestine solidarity march in London, the capital of the UK, has reported that her family is being threatened due to her support for Gaza.

The Welsh-born artist, one of the country's well-known singers, announced in a statement on her website following the Palestine march she attended last weekend that she wanted to respond to the accusations and smears that began after she previously participated in a pro-Palestine event.

SHE REJECTED THE ACCUSATIONS

The 38-year-old singer, who stated that she has been accused of being "antisemitic" and a "traitor" due to her support for Gaza, expressed that she absolutely rejects these accusations.

Church stated that she has been subjected to all kinds of violent, misogynistic, and racist abuse on social media for participating in the Palestine march and has been accused of being an "extremist."

Singer Church noted that she has been constantly accused of being "antisemitic" in the press and on social media since footage of the "Sing for Palestine" event, which she attended to raise money for a new ambulance for a hospital in Gaza, was shared online.

Emphasizing that she has never been and will never be antisemitic, Church pointed out that she has been mocked by powerful men in the media for her attempts to protest the atrocities in Gaza and the West Bank and the West's complicity in these atrocities.

'IRRESPONSIBLE REPORTING'

Church stated, "My safety and the safety of my family are being threatened by some very scary people emboldened by the rhetoric of politicians, and by cowardly, irresponsible reporting from liberal legacy media outlets, including BBC News."

Stating that she felt the need to respond to the attacks against her, Church noted the following:

"Perhaps most urgently, I have to take the opportunity to make my voice heard because the campaign calling for an end to Israeli aggression in Palestine since the start of the genocide receives very little coverage in the press, other than being condemned as 'hateful' or 'Islamist' by the most vicious racists in the Western world."

'CONTINUES TO PUBLISH WITH INCENDIARY LANGUAGE'

Pointing to the threats she received due to her support for Gaza, Church used the expression, "The threats to my safety resulted in the police coming to check on us (herself and her family), and the BBC continues to publish articles with highly incendiary language that does not fully reflect the reality of the situation."

Singer Charlotte Church, who participated in the pro-Palestine march held in London on March 9, sang for the people of Palestine on a platform set up near the US Embassy in London after the march.
