Solar flare: Northern lights seen in Germany

Following a powerful flare on the Sun, a magnetic storm occurred, resulting in the northern lights being seen in many parts of the world. Due to the major solar flare, the northern lights were visible even in countries where they are not usually seen.

In a statement made by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), it was reported that a "Geomagnetic Storm" of this intensity has been observed for the first time since 2005 due to flares on the Sun's surface.

Scientists state that such severe solar storms are rare and usually occur during periods when solar activity is at its peak.

SCIENTISTS WARNED

Scientists, noting that the severe geomagnetic storm will likely affect the world within 2 days, conveyed that caution should be exercised, as the storm could negatively affect communications and potentially disrupt power grids, navigation, radio, and satellite operations.

In the city of Bad Kreuznach, Germany, astrophotographer Mehmet Ergün captured the northern lights. The lights, which are seen in and around the south and north poles, left viewers in Germany in awe.
