Spouses of mission chiefs visit Hagia Sophia and Kariye in Istanbul

Sevim Çağla Serim, Head of the Foreign Relations Department at the General Directorate of Foundations, told an AA reporter that they organized the program within the scope of the Foundation Culture Events prepared in honor of the 100th anniversary of the VGM.

Pointing out that a negative perception has been created in the public regarding the restoration processes of Hagia Sophia and Kariye, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List, Serim said, "Our main goal is both to explain how meticulously the restoration process of these mosques is being carried out and to introduce our foundation culture."

Stating that they first went to the Eyüp Soup Kitchen as part of the program, Serim noted the following:

"Our ambassadors' spouses personally took part in the distribution of meals prepared for those in need here. Thus, we once again reminded them of the value our civilization places on those in need. Afterward, we visited our Kariye Mosque, which has completed its restoration and opened for worship, and here, too, we provided them with up-to-date and accurate information on how meticulously our restoration processes are carried out.

Finally, we visited our apple of the eye, the Hagia Sophia Mosque, and while touring with our ambassadors' spouses, we informed them about the work carried out by our Ministry and the General Directorate of Foundations."
