The first billionaire musician in the UK: Sir Paul McCartney
Legendary Beatles member Sir Paul McCartney has become the UK's first billionaire musician, increasing his wealth by 50 million pounds over the past year.
Paul McCartney, known for The Beatles, has become the first billionaire musician in the UK according to the Sunday Times Rich List 2024.
The 81-year-old famous musician saw his wealth increase by 50 million pounds, reaching 1 billion pounds. This change in McCartney's fortune came following his 2023 'Got Back' tour, as well as Beyoncé covering his song 'Blackbird' on her latest album, Cowboy Carter.
McCartney recently revealed that he spoke with Beyoncé on FaceTime and that she thanked him for writing the song 'Blackbird': "I told her the pleasure was all mine and I thought she had done a stellar version of the song."
Additionally, two compilation albums by The Beatles were re-released last year with 21 newly added tracks, and the band's new song 'Now And Then' was released in 2023 as the final Beatles song.
The song reached number 1 on the United Kingdom charts. 'Now And Then' was written and recorded by John Lennon in the late 1970s and was later arranged and developed with the help of artificial intelligence technology.
Thanks to audio restoration technology, the song was completed by the surviving Beatles members, McCartney and Sir Ringo Starr, years after the original recording.
AT THE TOP OF THE RICH LIST
Although McCartney is a new entry on the rich list, other highly famous names such as J.K. Rowling are also included.
At the top of the rich list is J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, who also writes the Cormoran Strike series under the name Robert Galbraith, with an estimated fortune of 945 million pounds.
