'The Last Supper' film awarded
Prepared specifically for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey, the film 'The Last Supper' won the 'Best Director' and 'Best Film Jury Special Award' at The Writer's Journey International Istanbul Short Film Festival.
The festival awards found their recipients at a ceremony held at the Atatürk Cultural Center.
Hundreds of films from 63 countries were submitted to the festival, which featured 21 different categories including "Best Director," "Best Short Film," "Best Theme," "Best Animation," and "Best Female Director."
The ceremony, which featured an opening speech by Festival Director Setenay Acı, was also attended by the producer of "The Last Supper," A. Selim Tuncer, and its director, Levent Onan.
THE PLOT OF THE LAST SUPPER
Released on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey, The Last Supper focuses on the dinner held at the Çankaya Mansion one day before the proclamation of the Republic.
On October 28, 1923, at the Çankaya Mansion, decisions that would change the fate of the country were about to be signed.
The film recounts the events that unfolded in the kitchen and dining hall of the Çankaya Mansion on the evening of October 28, 1923, when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said, "Friends, we will proclaim the Republic tomorrow," and the idea of the Republic finally took shape.
