Troy and Rome exhibition at the Colosseum surpasses 2 million visitors
The exhibition, opened at the Colosseum in Rome, brings together over 300 artifacts, including 221 pieces from Turkey, for visitors until October 18.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that the exhibition titled “Troy and Rome: Myths, Legends and Stories of the Ancient Mediterranean,” opened at the Colosseum in Rome as part of cultural cooperation with Italy, has reached 2 million 66 thousand 178 visitors.
The exhibition, prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Italian Ministry of Culture, features 221 artifacts brought from museums affiliated with the ministry. Together with pieces from Italian and Vatican museums, over 300 cultural assets are being presented to visitors in the exhibition.
The exhibition, which was inaugurated on June 11 with a ceremony attended by Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and the Italian Minister of Culture, opened to visitors on June 12. Curated by the Colosseum Archaeological Park and the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums, the exhibition will be open for viewing until October 18.
The exhibition covers the Trojan War, the political environment of Anatolia at the time, the myths and stories in Homer's Iliad, and Aeneas's journey from Troy to Italy. The narrative also draws attention to the historical bond between the two countries through the Anatolian origins of Rome's founders.
Minister Ersoy stated that the exhibition is one of the important examples of Turkey's policy of promoting its cultural values on an international scale. Ersoy emphasized that the exhibition strengthens the relations between Turkey and Italy through cultural diplomacy.
