Watch Dogs movie is on the way! Lead role and director announced

Ubisoft has begun work on a film set in the universe of the Watch Dogs games. The film's director and lead actress have also been determined.

According to a report by Deadline, Ubisoft's highly popular game Watch Dogs will be adapted for the big screen. The film will be produced by New Regency Pictures and Ubisoft Film & Television. The lead role will be played by 26-year-old Australian actress Sophie Wilde, who starred in the A24 film Talk to Me, one of the most popular horror movies of last year.

The film, which will take place in the Watch Dogs universe, will be directed by French filmmaker Mathieu Turi. The screenplay will be written by Cristie LeBlanc. LeBlanc is known as the writer of the Netflix film Oxygen.

Details regarding the film have not yet been fully disclosed. While the release date remains uncertain, there is no clear information about the film's plot or its relationship to the games. The games take place in fictional versions of real-life cities and focus on the different goals of hacker characters. For example, the first game, set in Chicago, told the story of a hacker named Aiden Pearce trying to avenge his deceased niece.
