REASON FOR ARREST REVEALED
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department stated that the 48-year-old rapper, whose real name is Michael Render, was arrested due to a physical altercation that took place hours before the awards ceremony.
According to reports in the US press, Killer Mike got into a fight with a security guard working at the Crypto.com Arena, where the Grammy Awards were held. The singer's representatives refrained from making a statement regarding the matter.
WHO IS KILLER MIKE?
Michael Render (born April 20, 1975), known by his stage name Killer Mike, is an American hip hop artist and actor. He made his debut in 2000 with the song "Snappin' and Trappin'" on OutKast's Stankonia album.
The following year, he appeared on OutKast's Grammy-winning song "The Whole World". Releasing his first solo album titled Monster in 2003, the artist joined T.I.'s Grand Hustle Records label in 2008.
His album R.A.P. Music, produced by El-P in 2012, received great acclaim. The following year, he formed the group Run the Jewels with El-P.
The duo's first album was released under the Fool's Gold Records label.
