1.5 million lira payment from Bursa Municipality to AKP's Varank before local elections

As the 2024 local elections are left behind, a major scandal regarding the Bursa Municipality, which was held by the AKP at the time, has come to light months later.

According to a report by Veli Toprak from Sözcü, former AKP Minister and Bursa MP Mustafa Varank incurred 1.5 million lira in dining and election expenses during the election period.

It is alleged that Varank's bill was paid by the AKP-run Bursa Metropolitan Municipality 5 days before the election.

TÜRKOĞLU SHOWED THE BILL

İYİ Party's Selçuk Türkoğlu displayed the bill in question in parliament.

Taking the floor in response, AKP's Varank said, "This is slander; they want to cling to my coattails to become famous. Go to the prosecutor's office. I will file a petition for my parliamentary immunity to be lifted. Anyone who cannot prove their allegations is dishonorable."

'I WILL SUBMIT THE BILL TO THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE'

Continuing his speech, Türkoğlu said: "I will continue to reveal the scandals. The bill states, 'Dining and catering expenses for the visit of the 27th Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop and his accompanying delegation, and Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security Ahmet Aydın to Bursa on March 26, 2024.' Two bills of 605 thousand and 863 thousand 500 lira total 1.5 million lira. This bill includes AKP election campaign materials, packages sent to the AKP Provincial Headquarters. There is also Varank's election poster. I will submit the bill to the prosecutor's office."

BURSA MUNICIPALITY HAD ALSO PAID HÜDA PAR'S EXPENSES

In previous days, İYİ Party Bursa MP Selçuk Türkoğlu had brought up a congress dinner paid for by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality for HÜDA PAR in Parliament. It was stated that the 44 thousand TL dinner bill was charged to the people of Bursa.
