1 arrest warrant in İliç, Erzincan
On February 13, a landslide occurred in the area of the Çöpler Gold Mine in İliç, Erzincan, resulting in the deaths of 9 workers under cyanide-contaminated soil. In connection with the incident, the company's foreign national investment projects manager has been arrested.
At the Çöpler Gold Mine in the İliç district of Erzincan, the company's sustainable investment projects manager, a foreign national identified as S.S., who was deemed primarily at fault in the expert report regarding the landslide that occurred on February 13, was summoned to the courthouse to provide a statement.
ARRESTED
Following questioning by the prosecutor's office, S.S. was referred to the court and subsequently arrested by the presiding judge.
Within the scope of the investigation, 12 suspects, including the Canadian manager of the company operating the gold mine, I.R.G., had previously been arrested, while 2 suspects were released under judicial control conditions.
Thus, the number of detainees in the investigation regarding the landslide at the mine has risen to 13.
The arrested suspects consist of individuals who worked in engineering, management, and administrative positions at the company.
