10-day event ban in Mardin

The Mardin Governor's Office has announced that all types of gatherings, press statements, rallies, and marches have been banned across the province for 10 days.

In a statement issued by the Governor's Office, it was stated: "In order to protect the fundamental characteristics of the Republic, the indivisible integrity of the state with its territory and nation, national security, and public order; to prevent actions and attacks that are assessed to directly and clearly constitute the conditions for limitation and prohibition stipulated in our Constitution and laws; to prevent terrorist acts and the commission of crimes; to protect the rights and freedoms of others; and to prevent potential provocations and likely social incidents, all types of actions/events such as gatherings in open areas, all kinds of open-air meetings and indoor meetings, rallies, marches, press statements, hunger strikes, sit-ins/vigils, setting up stands, erecting tents, drone filming activities, conducting surveys, distributing leaflets/brochures, and hanging posters/banners are prohibited. Furthermore, the entry of individuals/vehicles understood to be coming from other provinces to participate in these actions/events into our provincial borders; the exit of individuals/vehicles understood to be departing from our province from our provincial borders; and the use of our province's routes for transit from other provinces to other provinces for the purpose of participating in the specified actions/events are prohibited. Pursuant to the provisions of Articles 17 and 19 of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911 and Article 11 of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442, these activities are banned for 10 days within the borders of Mardin province (including the city center, districts, and all police and gendarmerie responsibility zones), excluding events deemed appropriate by the Governor's and District Governor's offices, from 07:00 on Thursday, November 14, 2024, to 23:59 on Sunday, November 24, 2024."
