10 members of the Turkey Youth Union (TGB) have been arrested for putting a sack over the head of a US soldier serving on a US warship docked at the Port of İzmir.
15 TGB members who put a sack over the head of an American soldier serving on the USS Wasp, which functions as the US's largest assault ship, on Kıbrıs Şehitleri Street in İzmir, were detained by teams from the Provincial Security Directorate's Security Branch. The suspects were referred to the courthouse after their statements were taken.
Following questioning by the prosecutor's office, 10 of the TGB members brought before the judge were arrested, while 5 were released under judicial control.
Yesterday, at around 16:00 on Kıbrıs Şehitleri Street, a group of 15 TGB members, consisting of 2 women and 13 men, physically intervened against 2 US military personnel.
A sack had been put over the head of one US soldier.
