100% of ballot boxes opened in Istanbul! Historic margin from İmamoğlu over Kurum
100% of the ballot boxes used in Istanbul during the March 31 Local Elections have been opened.
Turkey went to the polls yesterday (March 31) to elect its local administrators.
According to unofficial results, the Republican People's Party (CHP) became the leading party nationwide with 37.74% of the vote.
In Istanbul, one of the cities where the race was most highly anticipated, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was re-nominated by the CHP, finished 11.55 percentage points ahead of his rival Murat Kurum.
In a statement issued by the Provincial High Election Board, it was stated: "100% of the ballot boxes in Istanbul have been opened in the March 31 Local Administration General Elections. According to the data, CHP candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu received 51.14% of the vote, while AK Party candidate Murat Kurum received 39.59% of the vote."
