110 million lira scam! Fake pet adoption gang dismantled
A gang that defrauded citizens with the promise of pet adoption through fake accounts collected over 110 million lira under the pretext of shipping and insurance fees. Of the 43 suspects caught in the operation, 33 have been arrested.
An operation conducted by the Cyber Crimes Combat Branch teams has uncovered a gang engaged in fraud under the guise of pet adoption. It was determined that the suspects used fake social media accounts to collect money from citizens under pretexts such as shipping and travel insurance fees.
110 MILLION LIRA SCAM
Examinations of the suspects' accounts revealed a total of 110 million 255 thousand TL in fraudulent transactions. It was discovered that the gang had victimized hundreds of people with fake advertisements.
OPERATIONS CONDUCTED IN 7 PROVINCES
Simultaneous raids were carried out in 7 provinces on January 24. While 43 people were taken into custody, the suspects were referred to the courthouse after their statements were taken.
33 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Following the prosecutor's interrogation, 7 people were released under judicial control measures, while 33 suspects were arrested and sent to prison. Following the operation, victims continued to file complaints against the suspects.
