In the case regarding 12 kilograms of drugs brought to Çanakkale by superyacht, a lawsuit has been filed against 6 people, including Tunahan Adıgüzel, the son of former MHP Istanbul Provincial Executive Güven Adıgüzel, with a request for up to 30 years in prison. The trial will begin on November 21 at the Çanakkale 1st High Criminal Court.
The investigation has been completed regarding 6 people, including Tunahan Adıgüzel, the son of former MHP Istanbul provincial executive Güven Adıgüzel, in relation to 12 kilograms of drugs brought from Greece in a suitcase via a superyacht.
The prosecutor's office has filed a lawsuit against the 6 detained suspects, 2 of whom are Greek citizens, requesting up to 30 years in prison each for the crime of "drug trafficking."
According to the report by Dinçer Gökçe from halktv.com.tr, the incident, which is the subject of the investigation conducted by the Çanakkale Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, took place on the evening of May 30. According to the statements in the file, a person named "Azad" in Greece contacted Tunahan Adıgüzel, the son of MHP member Güven Adıgüzel, with whom he had been in contact for some time.
The two agreed on the pickup of a group of 4 people, described as "business people," from a location in Ayvacık, Çanakkale. After agreeing on the individuals to be dropped off at Kumbağlar Port, Adıgüzel and his friends set out in 2 vehicles.
The individuals picked up from the designated location were placed on a superyacht that had come near Kumbağlar Port, and a suitcase was also offloaded from this yacht. It was revealed after the investigation conducted by the Gendarmerie that the offloaded suitcase contained drugs.
'THERE IS 2.5 MILLION WORTH OF GOODS IN THE BAG'
Şenol Engin, whom Tunahan Adıgüzel brought along to act as a lookout, stated in his testimony included in the indictment that this person had promised to pay him 1000 Euros. In the continuation of his statement, Şenol Engin (62) said he heard Tunahan Adıgüzel (32), Atakan Görevin (21), and Alihan Ketenci (26) talking among themselves, saying, "There is about 2.5 million worth of goods in the bag."
'TUNAHAN ADIGÜZEL WAS ORGANIZING EVERYTHING'
Alihan Ketenci stated in his testimony that he thought there were drugs in the suitcase they took from the yacht, and noted that when he asked Tunahan Adıgüzel about this, he received the reply, "Don't worry, it's nothing."
Atakan Görevin, in his testimony included in the indictment, said that he threw the bag he put in his vehicle to a place near the scene because he was suspicious of the situation. In the continuation of his statement, Görevin said, "Tunahan Adıgüzel was organizing everything."
'TAKE IT TO BALIKESİR, GET 10 THOUSAND EUROS'
Tunahan Adıgüzel said, "Azat, who I was in contact with, told me, 'There is a bag on the boat, that bag needs to go to Balıkesir; if you take it there, they will give you 10,000 euros.' When I said I wouldn't take the bag, Atakan, who was with me, said, 'I'll take the suitcase, nothing will happen.' We told him, 'It's yours with all its sins and rewards.'" The indictment notes that the person in contact with Greece was Adıgüzel.
DRUGS BROUGHT IN A SUITCASE
The Greek captain of the superyacht, Stamatios Skourlis, said that an unknown person brought the suitcase containing the drugs. Skourlis stated, "When I took the suitcases off the boat and asked the people we met at the port who would take these suitcases, someone in the dark said, in a mix of English and Turkish and with a hand gesture, 'Don't worry, I will take it.'"
