12punto columnist Prof. Dr. Duran Bülbül predicted the minimum wage hike: 'The raise will be around 5,000 TL'
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced the 2025 minimum wage as 22,104 Turkish Lira following the minimum wage commission meeting. 12punto columnist Prof. Dr. Duran Bülbül had also predicted days earlier that the raise rate would be 30 percent.
Commenting on the inflation rate announced by TUIK, Prof. Dr. Bülbül stated regarding the announced rate, "This means that wages will be below 48 percent.
This will bring further impoverishment. The minimum wage will be around 30 percent," he had said.
While noting that the raise to be made to the minimum wage would be around 5,000 TL, Prof. Dr. Bülbül also made a statement regarding what the minimum wage should be, saying, "The minimum wage should not fall below 34,000 TL."
