12punto followed it minute by minute... A whirlwind of lies in the Necip Hablemitoğlu case: He knew about the assassination years in advance

The trial regarding the assassination of academic and author Assoc. Prof. Dr. Necip Hablemitoğlu continued. In today's session of the trial held at the Ankara 28th High Criminal Court, Kemalettin Özdemir, known as the former 'FETÖ' police imam, was heard as a witness.

Kemalettin Özdemir stated that among the defendants in the case, he only knew Fetullah Gülen and Mustafa Özcan. Regarding Mustafa Özcan, Özdemir said, 'He appears to be the one who will take the place of the man who died.' Kemalettin Özdemir recounted that during one of their encounters, Mustafa Özcan told him they had offered Necip Hablemitoğlu 250,000 liras not to publish his book, 'Köstebek' (The Mole).

Upon a question from the presiding judge, Özdemir also stated that there were many things Mustafa Özcan did without the order or knowledge of Fetullah Gülen.

When Ersan Barkın, the lawyer for the Hablemitoğlu family, asked Kemalettin Özdemir, 'Why do they call you the "police imam"—including during the period when Hablemitoğlu was killed?', the presiding judge intervened regarding Özdemir's role as police imam, saying, 'Let me remind you, it was until 2006.'

Attorney Ersan Barkın asked when they had discussed the Hablemitoğlu matter with Mustafa Özcan.

When Kemalettin Özdemir replied, "It was 1999-2000," Attorney Barkın reacted by saying, "The book 'Köstebek' (The Mole) was not being written in 1999, 2000, or 2001. It is a book that began in 2002."

DO YOU KNOW WHO KILLED HIM?

Finally, Attorney Barkın asked, "Do you know who killed Necip Hablemitoğlu?" heasked. Özdemir replied,"I truly do not know." he responded.

Attorney Barkın also stated, "You said you believe in God. I think God wanted me to ask this question. I leave everyone alone with their sins and virtues."

Retired Colonel Levent Göktaş, one of the defendants, reminded the court that while Kemalettin Özdemir claimed to have left the organization in 2010, a large number of organizational publications were seized in his car in 2016.

Özdemir replied, "I created the Ankara Counter-Terrorism Department's archive regarding this structure. I also provided all the books."

Eren Turan, the lawyer for defendant Tarkan Mumcuoğlu, asked Kemalettin Özdemir whether he had also provided the names of police officers belonging to the structure while creating the archive at the Counter-Terrorism Department.

When Kemalettin Özdemir stated that he had provided a list regarding this, Attorney Turan asked, "Was Yurt Atayün, who investigated the Hablemitoğlu murder, also part of this structure?" Özdemir replied, "I don't know him, I don't know." he said.

To the question posed by attorney Ali Soykan, "Was Ergenekon a conspiracy or not?" Kemalettin Özdemir gave a response along the lines of, "They have connections with every kind of organization that would cause trouble for Turkey." Kemalettin Özdemir had previously responded with a "No" when reminded by Ersan Barkın, the lawyer for the Hablemitoğlu family, that he had spoken about the Hablemitoğlu murder during a program on A Haber.

After the defendants and their lawyers finished their questioning, attorney Barkın took the floor again, stating that they had obtained the footage and, saying "He talks about it between the 40th and 44th minutes," submitted a flash drive to the court.

The court session continued with further procedural steps.

Following this, the Presiding Judge adjourned the hearing to watch the footage.

THE A HABER DETAIL

When the hearing resumed, the Judge played the relevant segment of the program on A Haber.

In the program, in response to the presenters' question, "There is an allegation that the task of the Necip Hablemitoğlu murder was given to Mustafa Özcan, but since he could not manage it, the task was given to another name" it was understood that Kemalettin Özdemir, while mentioning the book 'Köstebek' (The Mole), replied, "At that time, the structure had targeted Necip Hablemitoğlu, but I do not know if Mustafa Özcan had the power to have this done." as his response.

Responding to questions regarding this publication, Kemalettin Özdemir stated that he believed Hablemitoğlu was targeted after the publication of his book, 'Köstebek' (The Mole).

Attorney Ersan Barkın reiterated that the book was not published in 1999-2000, but rather after his murder.

Attorney Barkın then asked,"Is there a possibility that Mustafa Özcan was referring to another book by Hablemitoğlu?" he asked.

CAMERAMAN WHO RECORDED THE INTERVIEW TO BE HEARD AS A WITNESS

To this question,"No"Responding with ".", Kemalettin Özdemir, upon being asked by Prosecutor Zafer Ergün whether the book mentioned by Mustafa Özcan could be the one regarding German foundations, replied, While saying, "Why would they support German foundations?", he responded to attorney Eren Turan's question regarding whether the structure had any connection to German foundations by saying, "I believe they would be involved in any movement that would undermine the government." he replied.

After Kemalettin Özdemir's statements were completed, the hearing was adjourned for half an hour.

In the next part of the hearing, the cameraman who recorded the interview that Sabah writers Ferhat Ünlü and Abdurrahman Şimşek conducted with Nuri Gökhan Bozkır in Ukraine in 2020 will be heard as a witness.

HE KNEW ABOUT THE HABLEMİTOĞLU ASSASSINATION YEARS IN ADVANCE 

Journalist Ferhat Ünlü stated that as a journalist working on intelligence and terrorism, he had known about the Hablemitoğlu assassination for years, but had no in-depth information beyond that.

Stating that he received this information from an active-duty officer who has since passed away, Ferhat Ünlü said, "There is no enhanced footage that I know of or have seen. There were already many things being said about the Hablemitoğlu assassination. I wrote about it at the level of allegations."

The lawyer for the Hablemitoğlu family asked on what basis the document stating that images of individuals thought to have been following Hablemitoğlu were sent to the U.S. for clarification was written, emphasizing that there is no information regarding this in the case file.

''YOU ALWAYS FORGET ME...''

During the questioning phase of the testimony of cameraman İbrahim Evrim Ayral, who went to Ukraine with Abdurrahman Şimşek to interview Nuri Gökhan Bozkır, when the presiding judge forgot him, Bozkır said, "You always forget me. You also interrupt and confuse me while asking questions."

The judge replied, "For God's sake, I let you speak the most." Bozkır responded, "I forget my question out of fear of you."

Following this dialogue, Bozkır said, "You asked me about Mehmet Narin and Aydın Köstem, whom I did not know were in the file." Cameraman Ayral stated that he did not remember.

Defense attorneys Hacer Ural and Ali Soykan read the transcripts of the interview and asked how they obtained the HTS records of these two individuals, who were not in the case file at that time.

Cameraman İbrahim Evrim Ayral replied, "We do research for news. We get information from various sources. What is wrong here? Are you asking a journalist for their news source? There is no need to act as if this is a big deal. What are you accusing me of?" The lawyers emphasized that they were asking how he learned these details while there was a confidentiality order on the file, and noted that they were accusing him of "violating the confidentiality of the investigation."

BYLOCK DETAIL

Nuri Gökhan Bozkır's lawyer, Hacer Ural, asked questions regarding the purpose of her client's trip to Ukraine. Referring to the statement made during the interview, 'We will give this interview to the Prosecutor's Office, to Chief Prosecutor Yüksel Kocaman,' Ural asked what these words meant. Cameraman İbrahim Evrim Ayral replied, 'We are not in a position to provide information to any institution or person. I have no knowledge of it; if it was given, it was given. The reason we did not publish the interview was that it did not express anything different from what was told to Toygun Atilla.'

Ali Soykan, the lawyer for defendant Levent Göktaş, also reminded the court that Bozkır had said, 'I will talk if there is a prosecutor who is not a FETÖ member,' and asked whether Bozkır had provided any names during the interview. When Ayral answered 'No,' Bozkır reacted by saying, 'Do not lie. You said that ByLock was found on Prosecutor Zafer Ergün, and then you stated it was found on his wife.'

When cameraman Ayral asked, 'Did I say this statement, or did Abdurrahman Şimşek say it?', Bozkır replied, 'Both of you were there.' The lawyers expressed their reactions to Ayral with the words, 'The witness did not remember, but now he has started to remember.'

TODAY'S HEARING HAS CONCLUDED 

Finally, lawyer Hacer Ural asked whether the letter Bozkır wrote from Ukraine to Prosecutor Zafer Ergün was shown during the interview. Ayral replied, 'Did I show it?' Following Ayral's statements, today's hearing in the trial concluded.

Before the morning session of the hearing began, Süleyman Bülbül, the CHP spokesperson for the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Justice Commission and head of the newly established Social Cases Monitoring Commission, also came to the courthouse and left after meeting with Ersan Barkın, the lawyer for the Hablemitoğlu family. Thus, Bülbül became the first politician to attend this significant trial.
