130 million lira mansion heist planned six months ago

A robbery took place recently at the Memduh Paşa Mansion in Istanbul's Sarıyer district. The heist, which was reminiscent of scenes from a movie, occurred on Sunday around 03:30 at the Memduh Paşa Mansion located in Sarıyer Kireçburnu.

Ahmet Yıldız, who had started working as a private security guard at the workplace 1.5 years ago, had devised a plan worthy of a film script and carried out the robbery with his friends.

The suspects escaped after stealing approximately 130 million lira in foreign currency and a quantity of jewelry from 4 separate safes whose locks they had broken.

10 PEOPLE IN CUSTODY

In the investigation launched by the police regarding the incident, 7 suspects were detained in operations conducted in Istanbul, Edirne, and Balıkesir.

With the 3 suspects taken into custody during the ongoing operations, the total number of detainees rose to 10.

IT WAS REVEALED THAT THEY HAD BEEN PLANNING THIS ROBBERY FOR 6 MONTHS

As a result of the police investigation, it was determined that the suspects had been planning the incident for 6 months and had brought a foreign-plated car from Bulgaria at the beginning of June for this purpose.

It was stated that the suspects, who were learned to be friends beforehand, arrived at the scene using this car in accordance with the plan they had prepared, and entered easily after the security guard silenced the alarms.

It was determined that the suspects, whose faces were learned to be covered during the robbery, opened the safes one by one with drills they brought with them and emptied them. It was learned that the suspects fled the scene by getting into the vehicle they had arrived in after the incident.

Following the discovery of the robbery, it was stated that the police examined 400 hours of security camera footage within 24 hours, first finding the car used in the robbery abandoned in Pendik, and then pressing the button for the operation after identifying the suspects.

It was learned that Y.B., B.Ç., and M.Ş., who were interrogated at the Burglary Bureau, were the individuals who personally participated in the robbery.

It was determined that suspect Y.B. had 12 prior criminal records, while B.Ç. had 7. It was stated that the other 7 suspects in custody were individuals who helped these people escape and hide.

GUARD WHO DISABLED ALARMS IS BEING SOUGHT

It was stated that operations are continuing uninterrupted to capture security guard Ahmet Yıldız, who was determined to have fled with the majority of the money, and the other suspect who participated in the robbery, Serdar C.
