The judicial proceedings for the 35 suspects detained as part of a corruption investigation conducted by the Kırıkkale Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the Yahşihan Municipality have been completed.
Following their statements to the prosecutor, 15 of the suspects referred to the court were arrested, including former mayors Ahmet Sungur from the AKP and Osman Türkyılmaz from the MHP.
In the investigation, house arrest was ordered for 2 suspects, while 18 people were released under judicial control conditions. A judicial control order was also applied to one suspect who is currently in a penal institution for another crime.
It was reported that efforts are ongoing to apprehend one suspect who is said to be at large in connection with the case.
On September 24, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had issued detention warrants for 37 suspects, including former mayors Sungur and Türkyılmaz, as well as deputy mayors, municipal council members, municipal employees, and business people.
The investigation into the suspects is being conducted on charges of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes," "being a member of an organization established for the purpose of committing crimes," "bribery," "extortion," "rigging tenders," and "fraud to the detriment of public institutions and organizations."
Following the decision, simultaneous operations were carried out in 4 provinces, and 35 suspects were detained. It was determined that one of the suspects was already in a penal institution, and it was announced that one person could not be found at their address.
