16 irregular migrants, including 4 children, abandoned to death by Greek elements rescued
Off the coast of Ayvacık district in Çanakkale, 16 irregular migrants, including 4 children, who were pushed back into Turkish territorial waters and abandoned to death by Greek Coast Guard teams, were rescued by the Coast Guard. One suspect attempting to leave the country illegally was apprehended.
The North Aegean Group Command of the Coast Guard took action upon receiving information that there were irregular migrants in a rubber boat off the coast of Ayvacık, Çanakkale.
A total of 16 irregular migrants, including 4 children, who had been pushed back into Turkish territorial waters and abandoned to death by Greek Coast Guard teams, were rescued by the Coast Guard ship 'TCSG-61' and the Coast Guard boat 'KB-4304'.
One suspect attempting to leave the country illegally was apprehended.
The irregular migrants were handed over to the Repatriation Center in Ayvacık district following the completion of their processing.
