16 people arrested in investigation into Uşak Municipality

Of the 29 suspects detained in the second wave of operations as part of the bribery and corruption investigation into Uşak Municipality, 16 have been arrested, and 3 suspects have been released under judicial control measures.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation on March 27 regarding allegations of bribery and corruption at Uşak Municipality; in the first wave of operations, 13 suspects, including Mayor Özkan Yalım, were detained, and 9 suspects were arrested.

The second wave of the operation was launched on Monday, April 20, as part of the investigation.

The 29 people detained as part of the investigation, including CHP Uşak Provincial Chairman Celalettin Çoban and Uşaksor Club President Özhan Özgöbek, had provided statements at the Istanbul Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau.

The suspects, whose statement procedures were completed today, were sent to the Istanbul Courthouse, where the investigation is being conducted, early in the morning.

Following their statements to the prosecutor's office, 19 suspects were referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for arrest.

The court issued arrest warrants for Ahmet A., Ahmet Y., Ali A., Fahreddin A., Ferhat C., Mehmet A., Mustafa A., Rahmi A., Sefa T., Akın C., Celalettin Ç., Cemal A., Ceren Y., Özhan Ö., Ulaş K., and Umut D., while imposing judicial control measures on 3 suspects. It was learned that the proceedings for the other suspects are ongoing.
