17,287 liters of counterfeit alcohol seized in Istanbul put on display

The Istanbul Provincial Police Department carried out 11 separate operations against criminal networks in 2 weeks. During the operations, 17,287 liters of alcoholic liquid and 1,715 bottles of counterfeit alcohol were seized. While 13 people were taken into custody as part of the operations, the seized counterfeit alcohol was also displayed at the Police Headquarters.

11 SEPARATE OPERATIONS

A statement was made by the Istanbul Provincial Police Department regarding the operations carried out following the increase in counterfeit alcohol-related deaths ahead of the New Year.

In the statement, it was reported that 11 separate operations were organized between December 9 and 16 against criminal networks and organizations involved in "alcoholic beverage smuggling."

During the searches conducted in unlicensed factories and warehouses belonging to the suspects, 17,287 liters of alcoholic liquid, 1,715 bottles of counterfeit alcoholic beverages ready for presentation, 4,363 alcohol tax stamps, 5,400 labels, 1,500 bottle caps, and numerous by-products such as bottles, hoses, funnels, and canisters used in alcohol production were seized.

On the other hand, it was stated that in the operations and inspections carried out across the province since the beginning of 2024, 14,718 bottles of filled alcoholic beverages, 297,624 liters of alcoholic liquid (ethyl/methyl alcohol), and 928,984 alcohol by-products were seized, and judicial proceedings were initiated against 113 suspects in 66 different incidents.

The seized counterfeit alcohol was displayed at the Istanbul Police Department's Vatan Campus.
