1800-year-old manuscripts and sarcophagus discovered in Kayseri: 7 people arrested!

In a historical artifact operation conducted by police in Kayseri, 5 manuscripts written in Aramaic, estimated to be approximately 1800 years old, and a Roman-era sarcophagus were seized; 7 people taken into custody have been arrested.

1800-year-old manuscripts and sarcophagus discovered in Kayseri: 7 people arrested!

Teams from the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch launched an investigation following intelligence that historical artifacts obtained from neighboring provinces were to be sold in Kayseri.

In the operation conducted within this scope, 5 handwritten books written in Aramaic, estimated to be 1800 years old, were seized.

The suspects taken into custody in connection with the incident, identified as A.A, N.E, M.A, A.S, A.E, S.B., and A.B., are undergoing processing at the police station.

Additionally, a Roman-era sarcophagus, which had been partially unearthed by the suspects in an area where they had previously conducted excavations, was found.

The seized materials were delivered to the Kayseri Museum Directorate.
