2 arrested over illegal circumcision that left 7-year-old with gangrene in Kayseri
A 7-year-old boy who underwent a circumcision at a private health clinic in Kayseri developed gangrene in his genitals. Two of the three suspects involved in the incident have been arrested.
In the Develi district of Kayseri, a 7-year-old boy identified as F.E.B. developed gangrene in his genitals after being circumcised at a private health clinic. Two of the three suspects detained in connection with the incident have been arrested.
Health problems began after circumcision
In the incident that took place on July 18, the circumcision of F.E.B. was performed by H.Ç. Following the procedure, gangrene developed in the child's genitals. Upon noticing the situation, the family took F.E.B. to the Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. The child was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Investigation and arrests
The Develi Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the incident. The health clinic's responsible employees, S.D. and S.T., along with the healthcare worker H.Ç., were taken into custody. After being referred to the courthouse, H.Ç. and S.D. were arrested, while S.T. was released. F.E.B.'s treatment at the hospital is ongoing.
