2 detained in Kocaeli fire that killed 6
Two shift supervisors have been detained in connection with a fire at a perfume filling facility in the Dilovası district of Kocaeli, which resulted in 6 deaths and 7 injuries. It was learned that one other person for whom a detention warrant was issued is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
A fire broke out at a 2-story perfume filling facility in the Mimar Sinan neighborhood of Dilovası district at 09:00 in the morning.
As the flames spread to the roof of a building adjacent to the workplace, fire, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the scene after citizens notified the 112 Emergency Call Center.
In the fire, which was extinguished by teams that arrived at the scene in a short time, Şengül Yılmaz (59), Tuğba Taşdemir (17), Nisa Taşdemir (15), Cansu Esatoğlu (15), Esma Dikan (31), and Hanım Gülek (52) lost their lives, while 7 people were injured.
TWO SHIFT SUPERVISORS DETAINED
Acting on the instructions of the prosecutor's office, police teams apprehended the business owner, K.O., who had disappeared, in Yalova while he was preparing to flee; suitcases were removed from his vehicle.
It was learned that K.O.'s son, I.O., is being sought everywhere.
Regarding the incident, shift supervisors G.B. and H.E. were detained. It was learned that T.Y., for whom a detention warrant was issued, is under treatment at the Kocaeli City Hospital Burn Unit and is in critical condition.
