2025 Motor Vehicle Tax rates announced: How much is the lowest tax for a new car?
The 2025 Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) rates have been announced. Accordingly, the lower limit for the MTV increase rate is 8.78 percent, and the upper limit is 65.89 percent.
Following the October inflation data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the revaluation rate has become clear. Thus, the MTV increase rate has also been determined. The lower limit for the MTV increase rate was set at 8.78 percent, while the upper limit was set at 65.89 percent. Accordingly, the long-awaited lowest tax for new cars has also been announced. The lowest tax amount to be paid by those purchasing a new car will be 5,804 TL.
HOW MUCH IS THE LOWEST NEW CAR TAX?
For vehicles registered after January 1, 2018, the Motor Vehicle Tax is calculated in 3 different tiers based on the vehicle's value. For those registered before this date, a single-tier tax is applied.
If the President does not exercise the authority to change the MTV, the tax for vehicles between 1-3 years old with an engine capacity under 1300 cm3 and a value not exceeding 260 thousand liras will range between 499 liras and 5,804 liras. In this category, the tax for a new vehicle will be 5,804 liras.
The tax for vehicles between 1301-1600 cm3, which are the most commonly used in Turkey, will range between 994 liras and 10,113 liras. The lowest MTV for vehicles with engine volumes in this range has been set at 10,113 liras.
