2025 price for gevrek has been set

The price of simit in İzmir, which last rose to 12.5 TL following a price hike on July 1, will increase to 15 TL after the new year.

According to a report by Cumhuriyet, Şükrü Erişen, President of the İzmir Chamber of Pita and Gevrek Manufacturers and Similar Tradesmen and Craftsmen, stated in his remarks on the matter, “As you know, with the start of the new year, there are price increases in many expense items, from labor wages to insurance, taxes to fuel, and raw materials to rent. Considering the economic situation of the citizens, we are not in favor of raising prices on products, but it is our duty to protect our members against these price hikes.”

Erişen added, “There has been a 200 percent increase in the price of a sack of flour, and we have decided to implement a 17 percent price increase. After the necessary cost calculations were made, we submitted our request to our umbrella organization's food commission. Once approval is received from the Ministry of Trade, the İzmir Gevrek will be offered for sale at 15 TL.”
