23 targets struck in Iraq and Syria
23 targets belonging to the PKK in Gara, Metina, Hakurk, and Qandil in northern Iraq, as well as in Syria, have been destroyed.
It has been reported that 23 more terrorist targets were destroyed in air operations carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces in northern Iraq and Syria.
The following was stated in the announcement made by the Ministry:
"In order to neutralize the PKK/YPG/KCK and other terrorist elements, to eliminate terrorist attacks against our people and security forces from northern Iraq and Syria, and to ensure our border security; in accordance with our right to self-defense arising from Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, air operations were conducted on January 15, 2024, at 22:00 against terrorist targets in the Metina, Gara, Hakurk, and Qandil regions of northern Iraq and in northern Syria. With these air operations, 23 targets consisting of caves, shelters, tunnels, ammunition/material depots, supply materials, and facilities used by the Separatist Terrorist Organization (BTÖ) to generate income, which were also assessed to contain terrorists at the leadership level, were destroyed.
In these operations, a large number of terrorists were neutralized by using the maximum amount of domestic and national ammunition.
The Turkish Armed Forces, which emerged from the heart of our noble nation, will continue its fight against terrorism with determination and resolve until the last terrorist is neutralized, for the survival and security of our country and nation, just as it has in the past.
During these operations, every measure was taken to ensure that innocent people, friendly elements, historical and cultural assets, and the environment were not harmed."
