25 million 700 thousand lira fine for 16 municipalities: Minister Işıkhan announced

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan visited the Van Governorship, received information from Governor Balcı regarding investments and services in the city, and attended the "Turkey Meetings" program held at the AKP Provincial Headquarters.

'25 MILLION 700 THOUSAND LIRA FINE FOR 16 MUNICIPALITIES'

Stating that they will take the necessary steps against those who usurp the rights of workers, Minister Işıkhan noted the following:

"We have taken the step of imposing 25 million 700 thousand lira in administrative fines on 16 municipalities for which we have completed our investigations regarding issues such as union pressure, mass layoffs, and discrimination. In addition to this, we have ensured the payment of 49 million lira out of 118 million lira in unpaid worker receivables. We have also taken administrative steps to ensure the remaining 69 million lira is paid to the workers. We will make them pay this as well. Furthermore, we have filed criminal complaints with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office as a Ministry for actions that constitute a crime. We will stand by our laborers legally and follow up on this. As you know, most recently in Van, 21 of our workers who were unfairly dismissed were reinstated to their jobs through the courts. We are also by the side of our other citizens in this legal process. There are other municipalities where our inspections are ongoing, similar to these. If we detect any usurpation of rights there, we will do what is necessary. As a final word on this matter, I say this: those who deem this oppression against workers and laborers fit should never again take the words 'labor' and 'laborer' into their mouths. They should not say, 'We are labor-friendly parties'."

QUALIFIED LABOR FORCE AND SOCIAL SECURITY

Explaining that ensuring political and economic stability both domestically and internationally is of vital importance for a country in a growth phase, Işıkhan concluded his speech as follows:

"First of all, it is our common desire to make our development moves successful domestically and then to bring Turkey to the level it deserves on a global scale. Our goals are big, our path is long. However, our determination and our hopes for the future are just as great. Over the last 23 years, we have grown Turkey starting from our neighborhoods and brought it to where it is today. Hopefully, from today onwards, we will continue to strive to solve our problems by reaching out to our neighborhoods again. In this sense, as a Ministry, increasing employment, qualified labor force, and social security issues will continue to be among our priority agenda items."
