Operation in 10 provinces in the Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu investigation: 25 suspects apprehended

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that a new phase has been reached in the investigation into the helicopter crash that resulted in the deaths of Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu and his accompanying delegation. Gürlek stated that simultaneous operations were conducted in 10 provinces, proceedings were initiated against 29 suspects, and 25 of them have been taken into custody.

SIMULTANEOUS OPERATIONS IN 10 PROVINCES

Making a statement on his social media account, Minister Gürlek noted that the investigation into the helicopter crash that occurred on March 25, 2009, which claimed the lives of Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu and his delegation, has been on the public agenda for many years.

Gürlek stated, "The investigation into the death of the late Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mr. Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu and his delegation in the helicopter crash on March 25, 2009, holds a deep place in our nation's conscience and is one of the primary files that has been awaiting clarification for years."

INVESTIGATION TRANSFERRED TO ANKARA

The statement indicated that the file was transferred from Kahramanmaraş to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on June 12, 2026, and that operations were launched in the morning hours as part of the work coordinated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and carried out by the Ankara Provincial Police Department.

Gürlek said, "Our judicial authorities and law enforcement agencies are continuing their work in strong coordination and cooperation to clarify this file in all its aspects, to reveal the material truth, and to ensure that everyone responsible is held accountable before the law."

PROCEEDINGS INITIATED AGAINST 29 SUSPECTS

Noting that 29 suspects, who are considered to have committed the crimes of establishing, managing, and being a member of an armed terrorist organization, as well as premeditated murder, were identified within the scope of the investigation, Gürlek reported that simultaneous operations were carried out at 30 addresses in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Balıkesir, Adana, Antalya, Çanakkale, Bursa, Isparta, and Afyonkarahisar.

Announcing that 25 suspects were apprehended in the operations, Gürlek stated that it was determined that 2 suspects are currently in prison and 2 are abroad, and that efforts to apprehend the fugitive suspects are continuing.

"NO FILE WILL BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN IN THE DARK"

Thanking the judicial and police personnel involved in the investigation, Gürlek said, "Within the framework of the duty and responsibility entrusted to us by our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, responding to our nation's expectation of justice is our greatest responsibility. No matter how many years pass, no file will be allowed to remain in the dark, and no doubt will be left unanswered."

At the end of his statement, Gürlek said, "I commemorate with mercy all our citizens who lost their lives in this tragic event, especially the late Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu; I inform the public that the process will be followed with determination until the end so that this pain, which has a place in the hearts of their families and our beloved nation, can be clarified in all its aspects."
