25 tons of expired chicken and products seized

In the Aksu district of Antalya, municipal police teams conducted inspections at a total of 4 cold storage warehouses, one belonging to an individual business and the other to a company. During the examinations, a large quantity of expired chicken and chicken products was discovered.

SUSPICIOUS BUSINESS PLACED UNDER SURVEILLANCE

It was reported that a business in the Çamköy neighborhood, which was noted to be kept closed and emitting foul odors, was placed under surveillance by municipal police teams. When the business was open, an inspection was carried out inside, and approximately 800 kilograms of expired chicken meat, drumsticks, gizzards, and various chicken products were identified. Following the situation, the Aksu District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and police teams were informed.

REPACKAGED PRODUCTS ALSO IDENTIFIED

It was determined that some of the products seized during the inspection had been repackaged and prepared for sale. It was announced that all products were confiscated and destruction procedures were carried out.

25 TONS OF EXPIRED PRODUCTS FOUND IN COMPANY WAREHOUSE

In the examinations conducted at the 4 cold storage warehouses belonging to the company located behind the individual business, approximately 25 tons of expired chicken meat and products such as doner, liver, gizzards, and sausage produced from this chicken were uncovered. It was stated that the majority of the products lacked expiration dates, production information, and documentation. It was stated that all of the products in question were destroyed.

BUSINESSES SEALED AND FINED

Administrative sanctions were applied to both the individual business and the company's warehouses on the grounds that they did not have business opening and operating licenses. It was reported that both workplaces were sealed.

MUNICIPAL POLICE CHIEF MADE A STATEMENT

Following the inspections, which were also attended by the Aksu District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and police teams, Municipal Police Chief Kaan Aydın made the following statement:

“During the inspections carried out at two businesses in the Çamköy neighborhood, expired chicken and products produced from this chicken that were repackaged and seriously endangered public health were identified. The situation was intervened in immediately, the workplaces were sealed, penal sanctions were applied, and all of the products were destroyed. As a municipality, we will not show tolerance to businesses that disregard public health. Inspections will continue.”
