3 buildings damaged in 6.2 magnitude earthquake evacuated in Fatih

A total of 7 buildings across Istanbul sustained damage in the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Silivri in the Sea of Marmara. It was determined that 3 of the 7 damaged buildings were located in Fatih.

Following this, teams from the Fatih Municipality Building Control Directorate sealed and evacuated 1 building in the Atik Ali neighborhood and 2 buildings in the İskenderpaşa neighborhood.

Stating that the apartment building had been evacuated, İskenderpaşa Neighborhood Headman Fikret Saral said, "I am the Headman of İskender Paşa Neighborhood. Yesterday, we reported the issue to our District Governor, our Mayor, our Municipal Police Directorate, and AFAD. They came, and we evacuated the apartment building. No one remains in the building. Our municipal police department has secured the perimeter. We had the electricity cut off, the natural gas cut off, and the water supply to the building cut off. We are currently requesting the urgent demolition of the building under the orders of our municipality and the Governor's Office."

"THEY SAID THERE ARE CRACKS IN THE COLUMNS"

Mahmut Ünal, a resident of one of the evacuated buildings, said, "They said there are cracks in the columns. After that, the municipal police arrived. They had them move out of the house. Two families were living there," he said.

The damage to the building in the Atik Ali Paşa neighborhood and the cracks formed between the two buildings in the İskenderpaşa neighborhood were captured by drone.
