3 children arrested in connection with the attack in Küçükçekmece

The police procedures for the suspects, who were taken into custody and brought to the Homicide Bureau of the Public Security Branch following the attack on Saturday, February 10, have been completed by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

26 suspects, including 4 children, underwent medical examinations before being taken to the Küçükçekmece Courthouse.

AKP Küçükçekmece mayoral candidate Yeniay filed a complaint on the grounds that he was the target and provided a statement as a complainant.

Additionally, 3 police officers who were at the scene also provided statements and filed complaints.

According to the information received, it was determined that there were 5 people in the vehicle from which the attack was carried out.

The prosecution's referral document stated that an attack with long-barreled weapons was carried out against AKP Küçükçekmece mayoral candidate Aziz Yeniay, his election team, and police officers on duty at the scene on Sarı Asma Street in the Kanarya neighborhood; that complainant E.G.D. was shot in the head with a long-barreled weapon bullet and injured; and that police officers B.Ç., Y.Y., and K.N. escaped the attack by taking cover behind vehicles.

The document noted that Yeniay escaped the attack because he had not yet left the association as his program had not fully concluded.

ATTEMPTED MURDER

The referral document stated that the child Y.A., who was dragged into crime, was a member of the armed criminal organization that carried out the attack, and that he provided the Kalashnikov-brand weapon used in the attack to suspect Mazlum Doğan and committed attempted intentional murder.

The document explained that the child S.T., who was dragged into crime, under the capacity of membership in the armed criminal organization that carried out the attack, climbed onto the roof of the vehicle used during the incident and fired randomly at the complainants with the weapon in his hand, attempting intentional injury.

It was recorded that the child Ç.S., who was dragged into crime, under the capacity of membership in the armed criminal organization that carried out the attack, opened fire randomly at the complainants with the weapon in his hand from the left window of the vehicle, attempting intentional injury.

These 3 children, who were dragged into crime, were referred to the on-duty criminal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest on charges of "membership in an organization established to commit crimes," "attempted intentional murder," "attempted intentional injury with a weapon," and "purchasing, carrying, or possessing weapons or ammunition that are serious in nature," while one child who was dragged into crime was referred with a request for judicial control measures.

The judgeship decided to arrest the 3 children who were dragged into crime and to release one child suspect under judicial control conditions.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On Saturday, February 10, during a visit by AKP Küçükçekmece mayoral candidate Aziz Yeniay to an association in the Kanarya neighborhood, unidentified individuals who arrived at the scene in a white vehicle opened fire with long-barreled weapons and handguns.

While E.G.D. (32) was seriously injured in the attack, bullets also hit some surrounding buildings and vehicles. E.G.D., who was shot in the head, was taken under treatment at the hospital after the initial intervention by medical teams.

While an investigation was launched into the incident by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, police teams began efforts to apprehend the suspects.

A 150-person team formed to identify the suspects examined surrounding camera footage; during the work at the scene, 14 7.62-millimeter long-barreled weapon casings and 3 9-millimeter casings were found, and it was determined that 5 vehicles and 1 residence were hit by bullets.

In the operations, 26 suspects, including 4 children who were dragged into crime, were taken into custody.
