3-day protest ban in Şırnak
The Şırnak Governor's Office has announced that demonstrations, marches, and outdoor meetings have been banned in the city for 3 days.
In a statement issued by the Şırnak Governor's Office, it was stated that, with the exception of events deemed appropriate by the governor's and district governor's offices, programs organized by public institutions and organizations, official holidays, and sports competitions, demonstrations, marches, and outdoor meetings have been banned for 3 days starting from 00:01 on February 19.
The statement included the following:
“With the exception of events deemed appropriate by the governor's and district governor's offices, programs organized by public institutions and organizations, official holidays, official commemoration days, sports activities, official ceremonies and celebrations, and programs to be held by these institutions in accordance with their traditions and customs, congresses to be held by unions and political parties in accordance with their charters, and activities to be held in accordance with Law No. 298, all kinds of outdoor meetings and demonstration marches, mass welcoming and farewell ceremonies, press statements, sit-ins, rallies, tent pitching, signature campaigns, stand setups, mass funeral ceremonies and cemetery visits, commemoration ceremonies, festivals, concerts, entertainment, theatrical performances, demonstrations, etc., likely to be held for the purposes mentioned above, all kinds of actions and events of this nature, all kinds of audio and visual activities that can be carried out with sound broadcasting vehicles, all kinds of aerial activities such as sky lanterns, balloon releases, drones, paramotors, etc., and, excluding the commercial activities of private legal entities with a commercial identity, the distribution of flyers, stickers, brochures, etc., and the hanging of posters and banners, etc., have been banned for a period of 3 days from 00:01 on 19.02.2024 to 23:59 on 21.02.2024 throughout the entire province, including the city center and districts of Şırnak (geographical area - city center, districts, and all police and gendarmerie responsibility zones).”
