35 detained in child abuse investigation conducted in 20 provinces centered in Ankara
In an operation spanning 20 provinces centered in Ankara, 35 out of 37 suspects, who were alleged to have shared content produced regarding the sexual abuse of children on social media, have been detained.
According to the statement made by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an investigation was launched after an examination of the mobile phone of a suspect identified as S.K. revealed content involving the abuse of children and determined that the suspect was actively participating in groups on chat applications.
As a result of the work carried out by the Ankara Cyber Crimes Combat Branch Directorate, following the determination that obscene publications involving children were being obtained, made available for others to use, and sold within groups on a chat application, detention procedures were initiated against 37 suspects who were active in these groups.
35 suspects were detained in simultaneous operations conducted in 20 provinces centered in Ankara.
During searches of their residences, a large number of digital materials, as well as unlicensed firearms and hunting rifles, were seized.
