35 million lira scam: 'Ponzi Mine', who defrauded celebrities, has been caught

Mine Mumcu, known to the public by the nickname "Ponzi Mine", has been caught in Kadıköy, Istanbul. It was reported that Mumcu, who had been sought since 2023, was taken into custody by police teams while sitting in a cafe in Suadiye.

It was stated that Mumcu had a finalized 20-year prison sentence and 38 separate UYAP files, and it was alleged that she was carrying a fake ID at the time of her arrest.

It is claimed that Mumcu defrauded numerous people in different cities by introducing herself sometimes as a Jewish businesswoman and other times as a lawyer. According to the allegations, the total amount of the scam reached 35 million lira through fraudulent activities carried out in Kars, Erzincan, Ankara, Malatya, and Istanbul.

According to the report in Sabah, Mumcu's victims include bureaucrats, well-known figures, and people from various professional backgrounds. It was noted that Helin Avşar, Ece Erken, and basketball player Semih Erden were also among the names alleged to have been defrauded.

It was learned that Mine Mumcu, who is accused of collecting money through a system known to the public as a "Ponzi" scheme, has been referred to the courthouse following police processing.
