35 people arrested in 'child obscenity' operation

35 people caught in an operation conducted in 20 provinces, centered in Ankara, regarding obscene content involving children, have been arrested by the court.

35 people arrested in 'child obscenity' operation

Within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, numerous pieces of obscene content involving children were detected during an examination of the mobile phone of a suspect named S.K. in Ankara. 

Upon the discovery during the phone examination that the suspect was actively involved in numerous obscene content-sharing groups created on chat applications, and that obscene content involving children was being produced, procured, and shared in these groups, multi-faceted investigations were carried out by teams from the Ankara Cyber Crimes Combat Branch.

The investigations revealed that obscene broadcasts involving children were being procured, made available for others to use, and sold in groups within the chat application Viber, and it was understood that the suspects were actively present in these groups.

CONDUCTED IN 20 PROVINCES

In a simultaneous operation conducted to apprehend 37 individuals in the provinces of Adana, Ağrı, Ankara, Aydın, Bolu, Bursa, Çorum, Denizli, Istanbul, Kayseri, Konya, Malatya, Mersin, Muğla, Sakarya, Sinop, Sivas, Tekirdağ, Tokat, and Yalova, 35 people were apprehended.

In the statement made regarding the operation, it was stated that numerous digital materials, as well as unlicensed firearms and hunting rifles, were seized during the searches.

The 35 suspects, who were referred to the duty magistrate judge with a request for their arrest following their interrogation by the prosecutor's office, were arrested.
