38 suspects apprehended in 'Sibergöz-45' operations

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 38 suspects were apprehended in the "Sibergöz-45" operations conducted across 19 provinces, targeting crimes of illegal betting, qualified fraud, online child obscenity, and unauthorized access to information systems.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, in a statement on his social media account, reported that 31 suspects, who were identified as defrauding citizens by posting "high-profit investment" advertisements on social media platforms and had a transaction volume of 63 million 500 thousand Turkish Lira in their accounts, were taken into custody in Kayseri, İzmir, İstanbul, Adana, Antalya, Afyonkarahisar, Mardin, Gaziantep, Sakarya, Samsun, Bursa, Yozgat, Şanlıurfa, Kırklareli, Ankara, Balıkesir, Kocaeli, Manisa, and Muğla, under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command Cybercrime Combat Department and provincial gendarmerie commands.

Stating that 7 suspects were apprehended for committing the crime of online obscenity by storing or sharing sexual content involving children on their computers, as a result of work conducted with international organizations such as the Child Protection System (CPS) and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), Yerlikaya noted the following:

"I want our dear nation to know that our virtual patrols are on duty 24/7 in the Cyber Homeland. As a result of the operations, unlicensed pistols, numerous computers, phones, SIM cards, portable memory devices, and bank/credit cards were seized. I congratulate our heroic gendarmerie who carried out the operations. May God protect you, the prayers of our nation are with you."
