3,879 liters of olive oil and 1.8 tons of honey seized: Counterfeiting operation in Balıkesir
Following reports received in Balıkesir, gendarmerie teams conducted operations that resulted in the seizure of 3,879 liters of olive oil and 1.8 tons of honey.
Acting on a tip-off in the Burhaniye district of Balıkesir, gendarmerie teams launched an operation against individuals alleged to have been marketing a mixture of vegetable oil, flavorings, and industrial dye as olive oil.
During the operation, which was also attended by personnel from the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, searches conducted at two addresses led to the seizure and impoundment of 3,879 liters of counterfeit olive oil, 1 ton and 800 kilograms of counterfeit honey, and 3 liters of chemical dye. The suspect taken into custody remains under processing at the gendarmerie.
