5.2 magnitude earthquake in Çanakkale
AFAD announced that a 5.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in Ayvacık, Çanakkale. A statement regarding the earthquake came from Çanakkale Governor Ömer Toraman.
According to information obtained from AFAD's official website, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Ayvacık district of Çanakkale.
In the statement, it was noted that the earthquake occurred at approximately 23:38 and had a depth of 8.65 km.
AFAD reported that there were no negative developments following the earthquake and that field survey operations are ongoing.

In a statement from Kandilli, it was stated that the earthquake, which occurred in the Gulf of Edremit (Aegean Sea), had a magnitude of 5.3 and a depth of 7.1 kilometers.
Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Okan Tüysüz made the following statement regarding the earthquake in Çanakkale:
We do not expect a 5-magnitude earthquake to cause damage. The earthquake, which occurred at sea between Lesbos and the Gulf of Edremit, is on a branch of the North Anatolian Fault (KAF) that extends to the Gulf of Edremit. We see earthquakes of this magnitude in this region from time to time. The region is an area with active faults, so an earthquake of this magnitude is normal; I do not think there is an expectation of a larger earthquake.
Statement from Çanakkale Governor Ömer Toraman:
It was felt in the center of Çanakkale, albeit very slightly! It was an earthquake that occurred in the Aegean Sea between Lesbos and the Ayvacık coast...
Our teams have started field surveys; there have been no reports of any negative developments so far. No negative reports have reached our emergency lines either. Our relevant units are in the field and we are continuing our surveys.
