5 villages evacuated due to forest fire in Çanakkale
Regional Directorate of Forestry teams continue to intervene by air and land in a forest fire that broke out in the Gelibolu district of Çanakkale. As a precautionary measure, the villages of Yolağzı, Küçükanafartalar, Büyükanafartalar, and Kumköy in the Eceabat district, and the village of Karainebeyli in the Gelibolu district, have been evacuated due to the fire.
The fire broke out at 16:28 in the vicinity of Tayfur and Cumalı villages in the Gelibolu district.
The flames grew rapidly due to the effect of the wind and spread to a wide area.
Upon notification, Regional Directorate of Forestry teams were dispatched to the region.
The fire is being fought with 12 aircraft and 12 helicopters from the air, and 94 water tenders, 3 pieces of heavy equipment, and a total of 560 personnel on the ground.
As a precautionary measure, the villages of Yolağzı, Küçükanafartalar, Büyükanafartalar, and Kumköy in the Eceabat district, and the village of Karainebeyli in the Gelibolu district, were evacuated due to the fire.
