Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on his X account that 51 kilograms of cocaine were seized in the anchor chain locker of a dry cargo ship off the coast of Yumurtalık, Adana.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced in a post on his X account that 51 kilograms of cocaine had been seized.
Yerlikaya stated the following:
"Under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's Department of Anti-Narcotic Crimes, a 'Narkogüç' (Narcotic Power) operation was carried out by our Adana Provincial Police Department's Anti-Narcotic Crimes Branch, our Coast Guard Eastern Mediterranean Group Command, and our Mersin Customs Enforcement, Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate teams on the Liberia-flagged dry cargo ship named Berge Torre, which was anchored off the coast of Yumurtalık, Adana, in the Gulf of İskenderun.
In the ship's anchor chain locker, 51 kilograms and 750 grams of cocaine were seized in 45 packages inside 2 durable plastic bags tied to the chain."
